Reelfoot Lake Loop

September 9th - 12th

We rode about 868 miles which was a little more than expected. The weather was pretty much perfect. Wednesday morning was overcast and kept it cooler than expected, which was fine with us. We visited 13 parks on this ride and we are beginning to really appreciate their importance. The diversity is amazing, probably some of the most diverse in the country.
There are only 14 parks to go!
An outstanding trip!

Day 1

These are the days you live for! We didn't get on the road until about 9:30 because of the fog but we still covered about 300 miles, even with about two miles hiking at the various parks. Of course the run past Cookeville on the Interstate and the extra hour helped. I'm testing out my new windsheld on this run and so far I really like it. I may change my mind after the first rain storm but It doesn't look like that will happen on this trip -five days of optimum riding weather is in the forecast!

Day 2

There was a lot to see today so we only covered about 200 miles. Quite a few miles of this was on single lane roads around the river bottoms and levees along the Mississippi west of Reelfoot lake. A lot of time was spent around Reelfoot at the various access areas. Three parks today, including Paris Landing. We ended the day in McKenzie.

Day 3

Heading East out of McKenzie, we made Nathan Bedford SP fairly early taking secondary backroads. The day ended up being Civil war history day, and it was well worth it.

Only two parks today, Lone Hunter and Cedars of Lebanon. Cool and cloudy until we got back on the Interstate in Crossville for the ride in.
